The Hidden Toxins: Why Heavy Metal and Parasite Detox is Essential for Your Health
It was a Wednesday evening, and the chaos of dinner, homework, and bedtime routines had just settled. I sat on the couch with my third cup of my Herbalife tea that week, feeling utterly drained despite doing "everything right." I ate organic, worked out regularly, and even managed some self-care amidst the whirlwind of mom life. But still, there was this lingering fog—fatigue, bloating, and skin issues I couldn’t quite shake.
Then, a quick scroll on a fellow mom’s Instagram page changed everything. “You know,” she said casually, “it could be heavy metals or even parasites.” I nearly laughed to myself. Parasites? That sounded like something out of a wilderness survival show, not my Texas kitchen. But her story of a similar health struggle resolved, and also the testimony of her kids benefitting after detoxing, made me curious enough to dive into the research. What I found shocked me—and now I can’t not share it with you.
Heavy Metals: The Silent Saboteurs
Heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium are everywhere: in our air, water, food, and even skincare products. They accumulate in the body over time and wreak havoc on our health. The Stats: A 2021 study found that 82% of adults in the U.S. had detectable levels of lead in their blood, while 71% tested positive for mercury exposure. These metals are linked to chronic fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, and even autoimmune disorder should Care**: Heavy metals can pass through the placenta during pregnancy or through breast milk, potentially affecting a baby’s developing brain and nervous system. I learned this too late into my fourth pregnancy! Of course, doing any sort of "detox" during pregnancy isn't "normal" and I was super skeptical, but I did manage to get at least a daily dose of drops in during the last few months before giving birth.
Where They Hide:
- Mercury in seafood and dental fillings, Lead in old pipes and some imported toys, Aluminum in deodorants and cookware. These heavy metals are also in the air we breathe and in a lot of processed foods!
Parasites: The Unwelcome Guests
Parasites aren’t just a problem in developing countries. Studies estimate that up to 50 million Americans may carry parasitic infections, often without realizing it. Common signs are Digestive distress (bloating, diarrhea, or constipation), Skin rashes or unexplained itching, Fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest, Sugar cravings (some parasites feed off glucose!) A few years ago, my then five-year-old woke up crying in the middle of the night complaining that her bottom was itching, on the inside. I checked her and didn't see any rashes or anything abnormal, but she was in tears about how uncomfortable it was, so I immediately started researching and came across PINWORMS! I had never heard of pinworms before and was shocked to read how common it was. That moment started my journey into learning about parasites and detoxing our bodies from them.
How Do We Get Them? Consuming undercooked meat, drinking contaminated water, poor hand hygiene or exposure to pets, living and breathing in the atmosphere. It's basically inevitable, and everyone has them. Unless you knowingly detox your body, they will reside in your body as long as it continues to feed them! Truly disgusting to think about!
The Importance of Detoxing
Our bodies are designed to detox naturally through the liver, kidneys, and colon. But in today’s toxin-heavy world, our systems can become overwhelmed. Supporting detoxification is no longer optional; it’s a necessity.
Evidence-Based Detox Strategies
- Diet: Increase fiber intake to help bind and eliminate toxins. Foods like chia seeds, flaxseeds, and leafy greens are excellent. Add cilantro and chlorella, which are known for binding heavy metals. Fulvic acid is great too!
- Hydration: at least half your body weight in ounces of water daily. Herbal teas with detoxifying properties (like dandelion or burdock root) can be helpful.
- Sweat It Out: Infrared saunas and exercise help release toxins through sweat.
- Natural Parasite Cleanses: Incorporate anti-parasitic foods like garlic, pumpkin seeds, and oregano oil. Work with a healthcare provider to explore herbal remedies like wormwood, black walnut, or clove. All these natural Herbs are available at our fingertips and are so helpful for ridding these creatures from our bodies. The heavy metal detox drops we use have worked wonders!
- Avoid Re-Exposure: Switch to toxin-free beauty and cleaning products. The more All-Natural, the better. Choose filtered (distilled) water over tap water whenever possible.
A Healthier, Brighter Future
After starting my own detox journey, the changes were undeniable. My energy rebounded, my skin cleared, and the mental fog I had learned to live with was gone. Detoxing isn’t just a trendy buzzword; it’s a path to reclaiming the health and vitality we deserve as moms and women. My five- and seven-year-old girls started the PBX detox pack together. This detox is great because it comes ready to use without having to dig deeper into which minerals and herbs go together for a successful detox. The PBX pack comes with a detox spray and drops, taken three times a day with four sprays and four drops each time. The life changing mineral in this detox is Zeolite. Zeolite is considered a “master detoxifier” and is the only mineral in the world that can effectively cleanse a wide range of toxins in your body. Think of Zeolite as a magnet for toxins! As long as it’s properly cleaned and the right size, the Zeolite will travel through your body trapping toxins in it’s “magnetic” honeycomb cage. It's been worth every investment for our family.

If you’ve been feeling “off” and don’t know why, consider this your sign to explore whether heavy metals or parasites might be part of the problem. Your body works hard for you every day; a little detox support can go a long way.
